Prohibited & Restricted Items

This policy forms part of our Seller Terms of Service. It lists items that may never be sold on KasiRoots and items that may only be sold if the seller holds the licences, permits or registrations required by South African law. Sellers are responsible for making sure everything they list is legal to sell.

You may not list or sell:

• Counterfeit, replica, "inspired" or unlicensed branded goods.
• Items that infringe anyone's copyright, trademark or other intellectual property.
• Stolen property or items obtained illegally.
• Firearms, ammunition, firearm parts, explosives, fireworks and other weapons, including stun guns and imitation firearms.
• Illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and cannabis products containing THC.
• Prescription and scheduled medicines, and products making unproven medical claims.
• Hazardous, flammable, toxic or radioactive materials.
• Live animals, and products from protected or endangered species (for example ivory, rhino horn, or abalone without a permit).
• Human remains, body parts or bodily fluids.
• Pornography and other adult sexual content.
• Items that promote hate, violence or discrimination.
• Identity documents, passports, licences, police or military uniforms and insignia, and fake documents of any kind.
• Personal information, account logins, hacked software or tools for fraud.
• Gambling, lottery tickets, and investment, loan or other financial products.
• Recalled products, and items that don't meet South African safety standards.

The following may only be sold if you hold, and can show us on request, the licence, permit or registration the law requires:

• Alcohol: a valid liquor licence, and sale only to buyers aged 18 or older.
• Tobacco, vapes and e-cigarettes: sale only to buyers aged 18 or older, with packaging that meets legal labelling rules.
• Food and beverages: a certificate of acceptability for the premises where food is prepared, correct labelling, and safe packaging.
• Cosmetics, supplements and health products: correct ingredient labelling and no medical claims.
• Second-hand goods: where the Second-Hand Goods Act requires it, registration as a dealer.

• Photos and descriptions must show the actual item and its condition.
• Used, refurbished or damaged items must be clearly described as such.
• You may not list services or items you do not have, or ask buyers to pay outside KasiRoots.

KasiRoots may remove any listing that breaks this policy without notice. Depending on how serious or repeated the breach is, we may also issue a warning, hold payouts linked to the listing, suspend or close the store, and report illegal activity to the South African Police Service or other authorities.
